Product Basics
Learn what makes Density Batteries unique, how solid-state technology works, and which applications our products are designed for.
What is a solid-state battery?
A solid-state battery replaces the liquid electrolyte found in traditional lithium-ion batteries with a solid ceramic or polymer layer — resulting in far higher energy density, superior thermal stability, and dramatically improved safety. Density Batteries use next-generation chemistry capable of delivering more energy per kilogram, faster discharge performance, and longer cycle life, all with zero risk of thermal runaway.
How is a Density Battery different from a traditional lithium-ion battery?
Density Batteries are solid-state, not liquid. That means higher power output, lighter weight, faster charging, and exceptional safety even under heavy load or damage. Unlike legacy lithium-ion packs, ours do not swell, ignite, or require active cooling systems — making them ideal for performance vehicles, aerospace systems, robotics, and power independence ecosystems.
What types of products can use Density Batteries?
Density Batteries are designed for modular integration — spanning marine, mobility, aerospace, industrial robotics, energy storage, OEM EV programs, tactical power, off-grid systems, and future e-aviation platforms. Our platform is engineered to scale from small drone packs to full EV propulsion stacks or grid-grade energy cabinets — all with shared architecture.
Are Density Batteries safe for all environments?
Yes. Solid-state chemistry eliminates the thermal runaway risk found in liquid-electrolyte lithium cells. Density is inherently fire-resistant, non-volatile, and engineered for extreme heat, cold, vibration, and impact scenarios. We also do not support conflict or weapons applications — we focus on responsible electrification in transportation, energy, industrial, humanitarian, and research sectors.
Performance & Usage
Discover how Density Batteries perform in real-world conditions—from lifespan and charging speed to reliability in extreme environments.
How long do Density Batteries last?
Cycle life depends on several factors, such as discharge load, thermal conditions and depth of discharge. At 5C (5x more than most lithium batteries are even capable to produce!), a typical Density solid-state battery is designed for 500–2000 full charging cycles. In real-world use, that translates to 5–15 years of operational life.
IMPORTANT! With our X4 series you get up to 4x more use per charge, so that makes it equivalent to 2000-8000 cycles of a traditional solution like LiFePO₄ - even under heavy commercial use.
What is the typical charge and discharge time?
Density Batteries can safely handle fast charging at 1C, meaning a full charge in less time. Choose from our 200W, 400W or 600W charger range to suit your budget a project goals. Discharge performance is equally aggressive — supporting high constant power delivery without thermal throttling or active cooling systems.
Can Density Batteries be used in extreme temperatures?
Yes. Our chemistry is validated for performance from -20°C to +50°C with no loss of safety or stability. Unlike liquid-based lithium batteries, Density remains stable even when punctured, shorted, or thermally stressed - although we strictly recommend you do not do this, as it will not only void the warranty, it's also very dangerous and Density will not be liable for any battery exhibiting any form of physical damage.
How much power do Density Batteries provide?
Depending on the model, Density Batteries can output from 80A on small packs to over 700A. Note that connectors and other components will limit sustained high voltage use, and 3C continuous discharge is recommended for optimal life. Additionally Smart PowerPack batteries will be BMS limited.
Do they require special maintenance?
No. Density Batteries are maintenance-free, require no active cooling or rebalancing by the user if recharged with Density battery chargers. Note storage best practices.
Charging & Connectivity
Find out how to charge your Density Battery, explore compatibility with standard chargers, and learn about connectivity features like USB, Bluetooth, and app monitoring.
How do I charge my Density Battery?
Density's charger product range covers all our batteries. For Smart PowerPacks, choose a AC DC charger. For Bare PowerPacks additionally purchase the appropriate Intelligence Balancing Module. Our platform also integrates with any 3rd party systems designed for lithium batteries (3.7V cell architectures)
Are the batteries compatible with standard chargers?
We highly recommend you purchase a Density charging solution with your batteries. The recommended charger for each battery is listed in the specifications along side each battery.
Do Density Batteries support USB or Bluetooth connectivity?
Yes - Smart PowerPacks do! USB-C / USB-A PD3.0 240W charging. This allows charging of up to 2 x 100W USB-C devices in parallel, such as two laptops, and also up to 2 x 18W USB-A devices such as two mobile phones. Smart PowerPacks also feature Bluetooth allowing you to pair your smartphone using our Density Link iOS or Android App - taking monitoring to the next level, even allowing you to name each battery to help distinuish them across your fleet.
Can I monitor battery status via an app?
Yes. Density Smart PowerPacks supports real-time app-based monitoring, showing State of Charge, temperature, cycle count, live power draw, and predictive runtime. Ideal for both consumer and OEM telematics applications. This can be access by the on-pack touchscreen or the Denisty Link Bluetooth app.
Installation & Compatibility
Get guidance on setup, compatibility across automotive, marine, and industrial applications, and tips for choosing the right battery model.
Can I install a Density Battery myself?
Most Density consumer modules are designed for drop-in installation — no ventilation, cooling, or complex wiring required. For custom projects, marine, automotive, robotics, industrial OEM systems, and so on, we can provide full engineering documentation, CANbus integration support, and direct developer assistance.
Are Density Batteries compatible with automotive/marine/industrial equipment?
Yes. Density is engineered as an OEM-ready platform — adaptable to 12V, 24V, 48V, 72V, and high-voltage (EV-class) configurations like 540V, supporting EV fleets, marine propulsion, drones, robotics, off-grid infrastructure, and mobile charging ecosystems. We have a comprehenshive test laboratory with a dynamometer for motor development and lifesycle testing. Make Density your OEM partner of choice.
How do I know which battery model is right for my application?
You can contact our engineering team or request OEM sizing guidance. Density batteries scale from micro UAV packs to full electric propulsion systems and modular ESS cabinets. Tell us your voltage, space, runtime, and power requirements, and we’ll recommend or custom-build a solution. We can even 3D print low volume production for you, and develop fully-tooled high volume solutions. Products can be manufacturered in our Melbourne factory, or off-shore depending on your preferences.
